Without Boundaries - Exhibition

'Without Boundaries' is an exhibition of contemporary mixed media art, with evocative and strong links to themes of memory, nature and the Estuary. Rich and layered, exploring both the fragility and depth of the Estuary’s ecosystem, resonating with personal, historical and emotional connections.

The artists featured will be working in textile, 3D sculpture, collage with found objects, sound, video, light installation, works on paper, ceramics, mosaics and maps - tactile material that explores visual, emotional, nature, memories, stories and connection.

There will also be unique opportunities to observe and engage with participating artists and groups before and during the exhibition. Two micro-residencies will investigate multi-layered mapping of the Estuary hinterland and explore light as a transient phenomenon with an accompanying evening of artist talks at HOFS.

About the organiser

HOFS is a vibrant arts centre at the heart of the community, located in the iconic former fire station at the gateway to the town of Hadleigh, Essex.

Uniquely positioned on the town’s ‘island site’ HOFS serves as a vessel - as a gathering place, and the artists and community within it - as vessels for creativity.

HOFS offers creative and cultural activities throughout the year that encourage involvement in all artforms and opportunities for lifelong learning - a welcoming place to develop creative practices, incubate creative ideas and grow new audiences.

HOFS Appliance Hall (where the fire engines once were) is a multi-purpose space used for exhibitions, film screenings, creative workshops, theatre crafts and seasonal productions, fairs, markets and local history events. Available for community hire for music & dance rehearsals as well as weekly yoga and fitness classes.

Free Entry. No booking required.
