Moving Down the Estuary

A solo exhibition by Gabi Mind with painting, collage and cyanotype which maps a lifelong migration down the estuary, from London to Whitstable. 

As an arts educator and as part of the exhibition, the artist is also running 2 workshops for children and young people. The workshops are looking at the idea of human and animal migration due climate change. Participants will be making costumes and masks.

The exhibition is housed at the Beach Creative, in the Marcel Gallery and Duchamp Gallery, and is part of the 'The Herds' Beach Creative project, which links 43 museums, galleries and historic houses across the UK, with a focus on the them of global climate change. The Herds brings together artistic events, workshops and educational activities to the local community to inspire the next generation and deepen connections with the natural world.

About the artist

Gabi is a mixed media Artist, Textile designer and Educator who has been practicing for 35 years. in her first career Gabi trained and worked as a Fashion designer and loves to work with fabric experimenting with its 3D potential. Gabi also works with found objects, since dicovering the joys of mudlarking on the Kent coast and estuaries. Living in Whitstable overlooking the sea for the last 27 years, Gabi uses the sea, sky and migratory wildlife there as a constant source of inspiration.
