Follow this geolocated sound walk from Lower Halstow dock, along the banks of the estuary and through the Old Brickfields to the historic church of St Margaret of Antioch. As you walk, you can listen to new words and music about the Thames Barges and the industry of the area within the landscape that inspired them.
How to listen to the Hulked sound walk:
1. (Ideally before you arrive) Download the Echoes app from the Apple App Store or Google Play onto your smart phone.
2. In the app, search for the Hulked sound walk and download it.
3. When you arrive at the Old Brickfields, open up the app and find the Hulked sound walk.
4. You will need to walk to the Dock. As you walk, the app will play automatically as you move through the geolocated sound zones.
5. We recommend using headphones and downloading the app & soundwalk before you visit.
To do the whole walk takes about 90 minutes. You can take breaks and do it in smaller sections if you prefer.

About the organiser
Hulked is a creative heritage project inspired by the histories, stories and songs of the Thames Barges, many of which are now ‘hulked’ along the Medway River.
The sound walk weaves together stories, poems, songs and music as you follow the self-guided route through the Old Brickfields at Lower Halstow.
Created by writer Jeremy Scott and sound artist Anna Braithwaite, the sound walk includes contributions from students of Lower Halstow Primary School, members of the Oast House Community Choir, people from the local community and the Thames Barge community.
