Her Dreams are Bigger
To take part in this event, please follow this link to our LIVE page. The event will start automatically at the scheduled time.
Art film screening (4’ 43”) and conversation between multi-disciplinary artist and designer, Osman Yousefzada and British fashion and identity commentator and visiting professor of diverse selfhood, Caryn Franklin MBE.
Osman Yousefzada and Caryn Franklin explore the themes presented through Osman's art film Her Dreams are Bigger. Foregrounding the dreams and ideas of garment factory workers in Bangladesh who make fast fashion clothes for the West, the film forces us to confront our disconnection from the reality of our consumerism, and the lives, hope and dreams of those that pay the price.
Our speakers will acknowledge how their own individual paths have allowed for immersion in creativity as a pro-social tool- where engagement in culture, race, activism and the experience of the self in relation to clothing and identity- can be a rich exploration for us all.
Caryn Franklin MBE, former fashion editor and co-editor of i-D Magazine and prime-time BBC TV presenter throughout the eighties and nineties, is a multi-platform broadcaster, fashion and identity commentator and activist.
