Friday 21st May 2021 to
Saturday 12th June 2021
As part of Estuary 2021, Cement Fields worked in partnership with The Gr@nd and a group of young people from their Gifted Young Generation (GYG) Media group to explore the festival and the participating artists through their eyes. The group are interested in understanding art from many points of view including political, educational, as a form of expression and experimentation. With the support of professionals, the group, aged between 14 and 19 years old, learnt production, interviewing and editing skills to produce a series of videos interviewing artists and exploring works from the festival programme. GYG Talks Art is available to watch online and at giftedyounggeneration.co.uk through Estuary 2021. The Gr@nd is a social enterprise that specialises in engaging young people, championing youth work principles, creating positive memories, and creating a safe welcoming space for all young people. They provide the Healthy Living Centre for Gravesham and deliver the GYG programme for young people. GYG Media gives young people the chance to develop skills and knowledge about media by getting hands-on with professionals and producing their own video series.
'GYG Talks Art' is a video series made by young people at The Gr@nd exploring the festival and participating artists through their eyes. In this video they talk to Bob and Roberta Smith at his 'Draw Hope' pavilion in Chatham.
