Come and take part in workshops with Medway artists Rosa Ainley, Lalita Bailey, Liz Bylett, Wendy Daws, Christopher Sacre, and Hannah Whittaker, and make your mark on Bob and Roberta Smith's Draw Hope pavilion. Draw or write outlines of you, your hands, your friends to fill with your thoughts and hopes. Each workshop runs for 30 minutes and you can pick a time slot when you reserve your ticket. Sat 29 May - Book here Tue 1 June - Book here Christopher Sacre, Visions of Hope Workshops Come along and draw visions of hope for a happier and more inclusive future at Christopher Sacre's Visions of Hope workshops. They can be any size, shape and colour you like. The fun challenge is to do this without using spoken or written language! A BSL interpreter will be present during these workshops. Wed 26 May - Book here Fri 28 May - Book here Sat 5 June - Book here Liz Bylett, Wall of He-ART (Hearts) Workshops At the Wall of He-ART (Hearts) workshops artist Liz Bylett will guide you to create images, ideas and feelings of hope from the heart, focusing on and depicting families, family connections and family units that live and work in the Estuary area. Thu 27 May - Book here Sun 30 May - Book here Mon 31 May - Book here Wed 2 June - Book here Lalita Bailey, Who are we? Lalita Bailey’s drawing workshops are structured on creative dialogue. Participants will be asked a series of questions focused on mental wellbeing and life during lockdown. Lalita will respond live to participant’s drawings by creating a composition onto the Draw Hope pavilion, and will also create a digital drawing that will encapsulate participant’s compositions from the various workshops. Lalita is working collaboratively with students from Luton Primary School. Mon 7 June Tue 8 June Wed 9 June Even if you can't attend a workshop, the pavilion is open everyday through the festival.
Christopher Sacre is a deaf signer and has been a visual artist and art facilitator for over 20 years. He specialises in providing creative workshops/activities that are accessible to deaf people and their families, supporting other facilitators to improve the accessibility of their provision at galleries, museums, and other creative events.
Hannah Whittaker is a performance maker and installation artist, creating interactive installations, one on one encounters and digital performances.
Lalita Bailey is a multimedia artist that believes creativity is the most liberating tool we have.
Liz Bylett is an artist, author who is passionate about promoting self-realisation and empowerment for all through art.
Rosa Ainley is a text-based artist, a writer and editor on architecture, space and buildings.
