Back in 2013 several members of The Hoy at Anchor Folk Club got together and started singing folk-based chorus songs, particularly shanties and became The Hoy Shanty Crew. The Crew’s infectious enthusiasm and rousing delivery of local and national ‘sea songs’ has meant they have become a firm fixture at many events throughout Essex.
Much of the quality material and lead singing came from Jack Forbes who will be sorely missed by the Crew and their followers.
