Creek Crawling Collective (CCC)

Gerolamo Gnecchi and Graham Harwood are members of the Creek Crawlers Collective (CCC) treats the estuary as a commons: not an asset, a seabed to lease or a corridor for freight, but stretches of mud and water held in common by the people who walk, swim, sail, row, fish, dig and work them, and by the birds, plants and invertebrates that have held to this course far longer than any of us.

CCC understands its own relation to the estuary as common right rather than permission, resting on practices carried on long before the Crown Estate, the Port of London Authority or the local authorities, all of them latecomers to these stretches of mud and water. CCC works in the public realm in two senses. On the ground this includes the foreshore, the creeks, the footpaths, and public slipways, and the clubs that people built and keep going themselves. In what it makes, everything CCC produces is shared openly, credited to the collective and its members, and free for anyone to use, copy and build on, provided they share it in the same spirit.
